Position: Student Engagement Representative

Reports To: Engagement Center Supervisor
About the Job
Students hired for this position will engage with alumni and friends of the university through various communication channels including but not limited to: calling, texting, and emailing in the University of Minnesota Foundation’s engagement center (M Engage). They will be making connections with targeted audiences that build community and support for the UMN, its colleges, campuses, centers and museums.
M Engage is located on the 4th Floor of McNamara Alumni Center, 200 Oak Street SE.
Duties of a Student Engagement Representative
Communicate with University of Minnesota alumni, donors, and friends through email, phone, text, and video. Potential projects include event reminders and RSVPs, thanking donors for gifts, sharing new information about colleges and campuses, and fundraising for the benefit of current university students and programs. Responsible for updating alumni records in the UMN Foundation database, sharing information regarding projects and campaigns as mentioned above, and helping to reach project goals.

- Must be registered as an undergraduate U of M Student.
- Self-motivated
- Strong willingness to learn new software and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail,
- Willingness to embrace new responsibilities and take initiative.
- Must be able to demonstrate professional phone skills.
- Enjoy working individually and on a team with other students.
- Be willing to share experiences and communicate effectively with alumni and friends of the University.
- Have a positive attitude about the UMN and are open to learning more about UMN, it’s programs and people.

How many hours would I be required to work?
You will be required to work 3 shifts per week.. The average student works 10-13 hours each week.
Current pay rate:
The starting pay is $15.00 per hour.
You may use your work study funds for this position but it is not required. There are also opportunities for weekly and monthly incentives.
